1. Project Name : Realization of Gram Swaraj in 500 villages of Jharkhand & West Bengal, started from January, 2005 to December, 2009 and extended upto July, 2010 funded by EED (Germany).

Rural : Nandigram, Jhantiban, Patalkhuri, Vikurdihi, Jethia, Kankradihi.
Urban: (Municipality) Malpara, Kankata, Madakata, Kenduadihi (Loharpara & Sikhariapara), christandanga, Kabbardanga, Dompara, Rajagram (Shimuldanga, Metepara), Bakultala, Bhakatpara, Bikna.
3. Other activities
- Running two galleries (a) Gandhi Museum (b) Bankura Freedom Fighter’s Gallery at GVP campus.
- An orphanage home for destitute children is being run at Nandigram Centre of GVP.
- One library is running at GVP campus.
Project No. 1:
Community Organizing & Capacity Building
20 Nos. of village level meeting held on different villages of Bankura and Purulia district to enhance the skill of villagers as well as cluster level leaders and to create awareness among the Lok Samity Members to resist against social atrocities and establish societal peace in all level.
8 Nos. of seminars were arranged at different villages surrounding Bankura & Purulia on Ecofriendly agriculture ,Legal Rights,Food Security, Communal harmony .
Regarding above activities we get following outcomes.
- C.B.O. become self sufficient.
- Now villagers are resisting the social evils.
- Planning monitoring and evaluation skill have been enhanced among the villagers.
- They are practicing eco friendly agriculture.It resulted improvement in agriculture. Loss in agriculture reduced,productivity increased.Now they have become economically self sufficient.
- Food security increased and now their life style and standard of living have changed.
- The concept of solidarity developed.
Women Empowerment
At present we have training cum production centre of Handicrafts (Cotton & leather hand gloves) to empower the women. 15 Nos. of participants are taking training in making of cotton & leather hand gloves. The products obtained during the training period supplied to different safety departments in Iron and Steel factories. 65 members of SHG group have been supported economically to run their business like fish selling, goat rearing, vegetable selling through kitchen garden etc.
We got following outcomes from the above activities.
- Women become economically self sufficient.
- Their lifestyle and standard of living have changed.
- Health hazard are reducing
- They are now free from money lenders.
- Banking linkage are gradually increasing.
- They are able to take more care of infants.
- Women’s are establishing their role in the family.
- Women solidarity and group confidence is enhanced.
- Easy accessibility of nutritious food has reduced malnutrition reduced.
Natural Resource Management
The people themselves took up programme to convert the unused arid land to cultivable land and made provision for irrigation. People made 8 nos. of dug well size 35’/18’ and 3 nos. of dug well of size 32’/4’ at Sagarbhanga, Kulurdi, Mahisjobra, Puramouli, Bansi, Punadi, Gundlugora etc. villages of Bankura and Purulia. So that availability of water is secured during cultivation period. Land reclamation work 852709 cft was done at village Chandatiri, Kuruktopa, Sagarbhanga etc. Above lands of these villages are brought under irrigation to achieve of self reliance in Agriculture.
Regarding above activities we get following outcomes
- Approximate 35 acres of land brought under irrigation from dug well.
- 95 numbers families are benefited and become economically self sufficient.
- Approximately 115 acres land brought under cultivation through land reclamation & 195 families are benefited.
- Soil erosion have been stopped in the above land.
- Migration reduced.
- Production about 15% have been increased
- Villagers are gradually becoming self-sufficient.
Localised Production
G.V.P.’s effort to regenerate the rural economy on the concept of localized production – localized consumption which is originated from Gandhian Rural Economy. The village people are motivated to produce goods from the raw materials produced by themselves in their village and also to consume it for their daily use. GVP get training for appropriate technology and support services to create the local market. In this way the villagers become free from the money lenders and strengthening their rural economy by self reliance. Swadeshi values among the villagers have been enhanced. To bring economic self sufficiency of socio-economic downtrodden villagers GVP provides silk yarns to 20 artisans/beneficiaries.
From the above activities we get following outcomes
- Employment opportunities have been generated gradually.
- Skill of local artisan is being enhanced
- Drain out of village resources have been stopped
- Artisans are becoming free from money lenders
- Localised market created within the cluster.
- Create job opportunity in the family as well as society.
Initiating social movement of Gram Swaraj
Gandhi’s plan was to develop the power of legislative, executive and judiciary in the hands of the people, “every village is a republic, legislative, executive and judiciary combined”. He named it ‘Gram Swaraj’.
In the above mentioned programme our effort is to promote “Gram Swaraj” as a social movement at the village level. Facilities with inputs have been provided for 8 numbers of workshop at district level, block level and for youth, 20 Nos. of meetings etc. have been organized to initiate the process.
Outcomes of above activities are as follows:
- The villagers have established Gram Swaraj gradually.
- The Gram Swaraj concept is becoming a social movement gradually.
- Awareness of self-governance is extended among the civil society.
- Value premises are increased gradually among the villagers.
- Ushering societal peace.
CHILD SPONSORSHIP PROGRAMME
Gandhi Vichar Parisad has been conducting a Child Sponsorship Programme to develop an environment for the growth of a "Healthy Educated Self-Reliant Child".
Underprivileged children, women and youth are the main focus. Their families are supported to improve their quality of life. The Program strongly encourages maintaining school going habit and increasing school enrolment in pre-primary ,primary and upper primary level, reducing school drop out. The programmes also encourages health management skill and good hygiene practice, development of skill and knowledge in scientific food preparation and child care by making a change in food habit. There are 853 sponsored children in the programme as on October 2011.
HEALTH & NUTRITION
The following health related services were provided during the year to the community people.
1. Charitable Allopathic clinic services for sponsored children / families along with
medicines;
2. Annual health check up done for 273 sponsored children in age group 4-12 years , medication, & treatment for 689 number, along with dental check up & treatment for 109 children.
3. Support for referral treatment, diagnostics / clinical tests for all sponsored
children (Major treatment like heart operation & pace maker for 7 nos. of children)
4. Regular health education camps for children / family members. No of class - 33 and number of participants - 960
5. Growth monitoring for all sponsored children below 12 years age group.
6. Family welfare and planning advice for all the targeted population.
7. Provision of safe drinking water through installation of tube wells 7 nos.at different places.
8. Construction of 149 latrines, floor construction and home repair for 422 sponsored children families.
9. 4000 albendazone tablets were distributed among sponsored family members for de-worming campaining.
Charitable Allopathic Clinic 2 Nos.
Lokepur area-regular open 2 days weekly Monday & Friday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.Nandigram area 2 days weekly-Wednesday & thrusday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. & 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
One outpost clinic at Patalkhuri village.
The above Allopathy clinics are used for annual health check up, curative treatment and as a referral unit by our RMO ( M.B.B.S.).
Out comes are as follows:
- Health hazard is reducing.
- Food habit is changing gradually by taking locally nutritious agri- product.(own kitchen garden)
- No. of 22nd grade malnourished child upgraded to normal grade.
EDUCATION
Sponsorship programme on education have focused on developing competencies of children at various levels and contributing to the expansion of educational facilities for the children.
Activities :
- Educational assistance for sponsored child and sibling in the form of school supplies, school tuition fees, hope scholarship for youth higher education.
- Special educational assistance
- School books
- Provide bicycles to the youths for going to school.

Youth Programme
Youth programme was launched with the objectives of developing vocational readiness, civic competence, healthy life style and socially responsible behaviour of the youth.

- Youth health crops training (training on youth reproductive health & sex education)

Family Assistance
Considering the fact that the child is a part of the family assistance in various forms is given to improve the living condition of the family.
Activity
- Project provide income generation programme like rickshow, and rickshaw van, auto rickshaw, occupational instrument for increasing their family income.
- Provide household supply like food stuff bedding, furniture, cooking utensils etc through special need docations, and special gift individual support from their sponsor.
- Formation of self help group No. 65 to make them self-reliant.
